If you run a business center or coworking space, chances are you are using an email program such as Constant Contact or one of many others available to communicate with your clients and prospects. It’s a great way to send regular news updates and to build your brand. There may be danger lurking, however, in your subject line. There are a surprising number of words and word phrases which, when used within your “subject” line, may land your newsletter in the spam bin.

Below is one of the most complete lists our OfficingToday team has found. Check out these “trigger” words to avoid using in your subject line. Many of them surprised us. This is a long list, but we suggest printing it off and posting it somewhere.

As you can see, the words and word phrases to avoid aren’t always as obvious as “Act Now!” or “FREE”. It makes sense to take the time to get to know these words and replace them with more creative phrases that will help these emails get opened.
