LinkedIn is launching an AI Hiring Assistant aimed at streamlining the connection between job recruiters and qualified candidates. The tool will allow recruiters to input job descriptions and specific qualifications, which the AI will use to generate a shortlist of suitable LinkedIn users.

As recruiters review these suggested candidates, the AI will highlight their relevant qualifications for the job.

According to LinkedIn’s vice president of product, the assistant aims to automate the often tedious process of manual candidate searches, leveraging AI to analyze job descriptions and user profiles.

This could help identify potential hires who might not appear through standard keyword searches. Currently, the tool is being tested with select clients, including major companies, with plans for a broader rollout.

Recruiters can customize the qualifications the AI focuses on and provide examples of desired profiles. They can also input additional context, such as emails from hiring managers, and connect the tool to an applicant tracking system to revisit candidates from previous applications.

As recruiters confirm the AI’s suggested matches, they can utilize the system to draft personalized outreach messages, referencing specific qualifications that make candidates a good fit. Early testing shows that AI-generated messages yield a 44% higher acceptance rate and faster responses compared to manual outreach.

The AI Hiring Assistant is part of LinkedIn’s larger effort to improve how businesses connect with candidates. Currently, both job seekers and recruiters often conduct broad searches, which can create inefficiencies.

The aim is to minimize time wasted on unproductive connections, which can be frustrating for both sides, according to Fast Company.

Additionally, LinkedIn is testing AI tools to provide job seekers with insights into their fit for various positions, allowing them to update their profiles to better reflect their strengths.

Users can also leverage the AI to draft tailored cover letters or resumes for specific jobs.

Set to roll out in the coming weeks, the AI aims to address concerns over automated systems that may overlook qualified candidates due to keyword mismatches. This change could create significant improvement in how both recruiters and job seekers navigate the hiring process.
