Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have started to adopt coworking arrangements within their properties. And although incorporating coworking spaces can diversify a property’s offering and increase its value, the move doesn’t come without its fair share of risk that needs to be managed. A recent article argues that adding coworking to properties “brings with it an asset/liability duration mismatch that favors flexible customer commitments, which leave REITs without the ability to offset the high capital intensity of office assets.”[/ezcol_3quarter_end]

Flexible workspace operator Knotel has inked a deal for a 11,176 square foot location near Grand Central Terminal. The Commercial Observer reported that the company signed a 10 year lease for the sixth and eleventh floors of the 28-story building. According to statements made by Knotel, the decision was made as a response to increased demand from corporate clients near Grand Central Terminal. [/ezcol_3quarter_end]
