The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the role of the workplace as more employees work from home because of government lockdowns. Recent surveys have found that employees like the flexibility that comes with working from home, with many stating that they hope their employers will adopt more permanent remote work policies in the future.Â
Organizations have also realized the benefits remote working can offer to business, including access to a wider talent pool, reduced costs, and increased productivity, among others.Â
But, what do more remote work policies mean for the workplace? Does it mean the office is dead?
Not really, or at least not for the time being. More remote work policies mean a change in the role of the workplace; rather than being a place to work, the workplace will become a place of connection. Furthermore, experts believe that organizations will move from one single workplace location to a network of workplaces that combine both physical and virtual environments to support different types of work.
