In the midst of an economic recession and with a lowering 2% GDP in the country, Brazilian coworking operator, Sharing E.C., made a bold US$2,000,000 investment on a 10 story building that will host its newest coworking location (set to open December, 2016).
Founder Matias Vazquez explains how the new building, combined with Sharing E.C.’s current location in Sao Paulo, will have the capacity to welcome 1,100 shared desk members, plus have room enough for over 50 private offices, 9 meeting rooms, a filming and photography studio, and event space.
Additionally, the new location will feature 50 storage spaces for members to store their bikes and will also provide members with showers, on-demand electrical bikes, and car-sharing services.
Vazquez comments, “Though Brazil is currently facing a difficult situation economically and politically, our industry here shows a 30% annual growth. We made the decision to invest in this building so that we could be in full control of the location’s management, this will help us reduce overhead costs and leave us as sole decision makers when it comes to hosting and planning events. Furthermore, we hope to collaborate with various startups to develop projects in the new space.”
For the time being, Sharing E.C. is already planning pre-launch events to help promote the space.
In 2017, the coworking operator hopes to continue its expansion plans in other cities, starting with Buenos Aires.

Con previsión de inauguración en Diciembre de 2016, Sharing E.C., Coworking ubicado en São Paulo, Brasil, pretende dar un salto grande en este momento en que la economía brasileña pasa por una retracción muy grande y su PIB encoge más de 2% al año.
Juntando sus 2 edificios tendrá capacidad para 1.100 coworkers, más de 50 salas privativas, 9 salas de reuniones, un estudio exclusivo para filmajes y fotografía y en últimos piso el espacio de eventos, que tiene vista para toda la ciudad. También para la comodidad de sus sharers (así son llamados los coworkers de Sharing E.C.) el edificio suministra 50 cocheras, espacio para guardar bicicletas, duchas, bicicletas eléctricas para los que nececiten ir de un coworking a otro (están a sólo 2 cuadras de distancia) y un car sharing habilitado por una empresa parcera.
Según el founder Matías Vázquez, “Brasil pasa por un momento muy difícil, pero para nuestra actividad el crecimiento es de 30% al año entonces decidimos invertir en un edificio único, donde somos nosotros que gerenciamos todo, eso nos reducirá muchos costes. Además podemos hacer muchos más eventos, tener más parceros y por fin poder ayudar algunas startups con algunos proyectos que tenemos en mente.”. Están previstos algunos eventos antes de la apertura como live painting, concurso con arquitectos, y fiestas para promover el espacio.
Para el 2017 Sharing E.C. pretende poner en acción su plan de abrir sucursales y ya estudia en abrir una unidad en Buenos Aires.
