WeWork has officially occupied 1 million square feet of office space in Chicago with its new location in West Loop.
The company’s 12th Chicago location takes up 90,000 square feet of the top three floors of the 20-story building at West Adams Street.
“In addition to a great location and proximity to transit options, WeWork 625 W Adams will provide our members with beautiful, flexible workspace and access to a wealth of retail, dining and residential amenities being developed in the area,” said Megan Dodds, WeWork Midwest General Manager Megan Dodds. “By continuing to expand in Chicago, we look forward to providing more companies of all sizes with the space and global community they need to succeed.”
Other large users of downtown office space include: JPMorgan Chase, which owns 1.9 million square feet; Northern Trust, which has 2.3 million square feet across five buildings; and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois, which takes up 1.2 million square feet between two locations.
According to data from NewMark Knight Frank, Downtown Chicago is predicted to have about 3.2 million square feet of coworking space by the end of 2019, and 4.2 million square feet by the end of 2020.
