Coined One&Co, the 13,000 square foot space will accommodate about 275 people and feature private offices, desks and meeting rooms on the 11th floor of Twenty Anson in Tanjong Pagar.
About a quarter of the space will be dedicated for public events and networking sessions.
“Our coworking space’s mission is to make Japanese companies more localised in Singapore,” said Takatoki Izumi, JR East Singapore’s general manager.
Izumi said that Singapore was chosen as the area is more open to adopting newer technologies than Japan, but hopes that Japanese tech firms will benefit from its environment.
Izumi partnered with Osaka City-based startup community Osaka Innovation Hub and the Japan External Trade Organization Singapore to develop the coworking space.
