California Coworking Space Teaches Women Self-love

Livermore-based Athena Rising is a female-centered coworking space that provides a “home away from home” with comfortable velvet couches and faux fur blankets.

Co-founded by Anna Vickroy and Claire Marcel, the space offers workshops, yoga, as well as classes on self-love, parenting and business skills.

Vickroy, a photographer, created the Confidence Campaign to empower women through photography. She met Marcel at a Confidence Campaign event and found that they shared the same goal of helping women understand their self-worth.

Athena Rising opened its doors in July after Vickroy wanted to create a space that allowed people to love and accept themselves.

“If we just connect to ourselves … we can fulfill ourselves,” said Vickroy. “And then all that other external stuff is just icing on the cake.”
