WeWork’s India franchise has expanded its operations across Mumbai and Bengaluru with 4,350 seating capacity.
Last October, WeWork India had announced plans to open five new locations in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Noida. Currently, the company has 26 spaces in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Mumbai and Pune.
Now, the company has leased 150,000 square feet to develop new spaces, including a space at Mumbai’s Nesco IT Park that has 3,400 desks.
WeWork India franchise model is controlled by Embassy Buildcon LLP, owned by real estate billionaire Jitu Virwani and his son Karan Virwani.
“This is a thriving time for the workspace industry with demand at an all time high,” said Karan.
Reports suggested that WeWork was going to buy around 70% of WeWork India at a valuation of $2.75 billion, but the company’s failed IPO likely scrapped these talks.
