Facebook has announced that it is the latest company to delay its return to the office. Now, the social media giant is pushing its return-to-office date to January 2022 as businesses scramble to adjust their post-pandemic strategies due to the spike in Covid-19 cases caused by the highly contagious Delta variant.
“Data, not dates, is what drives our approach for returning to the office,” said a Facebook spokeswoman. “We continue to monitor the situation and work with experts to ensure our return-to-office plans prioritize everyone’s safety.”
Other companies such as Amazon, American Express and others that were expected to return to the office after Labor Day have also delayed their dates by a few weeks and some into next year.
However, many of these companies are embracing hybrid work models that allow employees to work in the office and remotely throughout the work week, which may contribute to keeping workers safe in the future.
