Workers Swap The Pub For The Office For World Cup And Wimbledon This Summer, New Survey Finds

London’s Leading Flexible Office Space Provider Reports Almost Two-Thirds Of Workers Would Prefer Watching Summer Sports In The Office Instead of Pubs

[London: 11 June 2026] Today, Office Space in Town (OSiT), London’s leading flexible office space provider, has revealed that the majority of workers are now favouring plans to watch this summer’s major sporting fixtures including the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon from their offices, instead of the capital’s bars and pubs.

A new survey conducted across OSiT’s five Zone 1 London workplaces has revealed that 60% of office workers think it is more convenient to watch this summer’s sporting events on large screens in the office after work, rather than booking a pub or bar in central London.

Reasons cited for this shift in team behaviour include the rising cost of pubs and bars, overcrowding during major sporting fixtures, and the added convenience of staying in the workplace after hours rather than commuting elsewhere. Respondents also highlighted the appeal of a more relaxed and comfortable viewing environment, alongside easier access to food, drink, and seating.

The findings suggest that the traditional after-work pub culture is evolving, with offices increasingly becoming multifunctional social spaces that extend beyond the working day.

Sarah Singlehurst, Co-Founder of OSiT, comments: “Sport has always had the power to bring people together, and what we’re seeing now is that the workplace is becoming an increasingly natural setting for that shared experience. Creating environments where teams can stay, relax and enjoy major shared experiences together is becoming an important part of workplace culture.”

At OSiT Monument, workers will be able to watch summer sporting events at The Deck, a rooftop café and bar with views across the Thames. The space is open into the evening and used for informal gatherings after work, including during major sporting fixtures.

Across OSiT’s London locations, including the Alice in Wonderland-themed office OSiT Waterloo and the Monopoly-inspired OSiT Liverpool Street, additional shared facilities such as rooftop terraces, gyms, lounge areas and social spaces reflect the increasing demand for integrated amenities and environments in supporting office activities beyond conventional working practices.

OSiT has ambitions to acquire larger buildings across central London – ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 sq.ft – enabling the company to evolve its Omni-Office concept and scale its proven owner-operator model. Future sites are expected to go even further by expanding on high-demand offerings, such as their in-office bedrooms, The Cabins, with a vision to incorporate additional amenities, such as rooftop padel courts, day nurseries, and dental practices.

About Office Space in Town (OSiT)

Office Space in Town (OSiT) is a flexible office space provider offering creatively designed offices, meeting rooms, and event venues across the UK. Co-founded in May 2009 by Giles and Niki Fuchs, along with office space expert Sarah Singlehurst, OSiT provides fully flexible office solutions in prime city-centre locations such as London and Cardiff.

OSiT’s London offices are uniquely designed with themes like ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Monopoly’, fostering a creative and motivating work environment. What distinguishes OSiT from other flexible office providers is its ownership of the freehold properties where its spaces are located, allowing businesses to rent space for as long as needed. This model allows OSiT to offer tailored, bespoke office spaces that cater to clients’ specific needs, providing enhanced flexibility and a more personalised service.

OSiT was recently selected for The 2025 For Entrepreneurs By Entrepreneurs Growth 100 list, recognising OSiT as one of the UK’s fastest-growing, founder-led businesses.
