According to new research from Lenovo, 44% of employees would work in the metaverse and believe this advancement could improve productivity in the workplace.
“Though the metaverse has yet to be ubiquitous, organizations can get a head start with improving productivity at work. They do not have to invest significantly more capital to achieve that,” said Ken Wong, president of Lenovo Solutions and Services Group. “Everything-as-a-service or pay-as-you-go model offers the flexibility, cost efficiency, and scalability to adapt to each company’s unique circumstance.”
While many workers were optimistic about the metaverse’s role in the workplace, 43% of respondents said the employers likely will not have the expertise to help with this transition.
Additionally, 20% of workers said they would be unwilling to work in the metaverse and 21% were neutral.
However, 51% stated that their employer’s pace of technology adoption is a key indicator of their readiness for new technological realities, such as the metaverse.
Over half of workers across Brazil (53%), Singapore (51%), and China (54%) were confident that their employer had the knowledge to make this shift. However, 30% of workers in the UK and 18% of workers in Japan were less optimistic.
