Why Executives Are Making The Leap To Web3 Jobs

Tech jobs have been in high demand for decades now, but the new interation of the internet may open a slew of opportunities.

Web3 makes the promise of creating an immersive, digital universe that is unlike anything the world has seen before. Its operations will rely on the blockchain, allowing users to use cryptocurrency for transactions, employees from different regions to meet in a virtual space with avatar representation, and NFTs to be a mainstay product for companies.

“We are unquestionably seeing some of the best and brightest of Silicon Valley, or tech, move over to crypto,” said Scott Fletcher, cofounder of Intersection Growth Partners. “I’ve been at this a long time…I’ve never seen a change happen this quickly.”

While the concept of Web3 is still in its infancy, companies like Meta and Google are racing to ensure that their place in this universe is solidified.

Now, executives at major tech companies are making the shift to jobs that focus on the development of Web3. For instance, the former CMO of Meta’s digital wallet project Novi moved to blockchain payments firm Circle this year.

As a result, we can expect that other tech employees will begin to follow suit.

“To start at someplace that’s fresh, that is — by its ethos — trying to empower the individual as opposed to the centralized corporation is appealing,” said Fletcher.
