Apple Will Start Its Hybrid Work Pilot On April 11

Following suit of fellow major technology firms, Apple has announced that it will launch its hybrid work pilot starting April 11.

According to an email from CEO Tim Cook, employees will start by returning to the office one day a week, then twice starting the third week of the pilot.

The full program will go into effect May 23 and will see workers come into the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, while allowing them to work “flexibly” on Wednesday and Friday. However, these dates may vary depending on conditions in specific regions.

Employees will also be given the option to work completely remotely for up to four weeks per year.

“For many of you, I know that returning to the office represents a long-awaited milestone and a positive sign that we can engage more fully with the colleagues who play such an important role in our lives,” wrote Cook. “For others, it may also be an unsettling change. I want you to know that we are deeply committed to giving you the support and flexibility that you need in this next phase.”

The company’s retail storefronts will have an optional mask policy for the next few weeks as well.

Apple, like many other Big Tech firms, has postponed its office return countless times due to unpredictable pandemic waves.

However, the last few weeks have marked the first time in two years that companies appear confident that their post-pandemic workplace policies can move forward. Both local and federal governments have also loosened their restrictions as vaccination rates climb and cases plummet.
