WeWork has announced that it will expand its WeWork Campus Growth initiative, which aims to support startups, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits, in Chicago
The coworking operator announced that it will subsidize $8.8 million in office space, networking events, and educational programming for those who participate.
“This marks the first time that WeWork Growth Campus will be available in Chicago,” said Christina Ferzli, vice president of global public affairs at WeWork. “We have space for startups and nonprofits across more than 370 offices throughout five WeWork locations in Chicago.”
WeWork currently has 11 locations across Chicago, but only five will participate in the program.
Office sizes will be able to accommodate anywhere from a single person to rooms for 50 or more people “to accommodate businesses at any stage of their growth.”
Ferzli added that as companies shift to hybrid work policies on a seemingly long-term basis, WeWork hopes to serve as an alternative solution to traditional and home offices.
“Now more than ever, businesses are hoping to adjust quickly to the ‘new normal,’ and WeWork can provide a turnkey solution that businesses of all sizes can scale as necessary as their workforce evolves,” said Ferzli. “With our global footprint, great locations and strong balance sheet, WeWork is the only company that can meet the new demand for flexible space immediately and at scale.”
