Instagram has reintroduced a new feature that has been highly requested for years.
The company’s head Adam Mosseri has announced that Instagram is reviving its chronological feed, as well as a new feed called Favorites.

“We want you to be able to shape Instagram into the best possible experience, and giving you ways to quickly see what you’re most interested in is an important step in that direction,” said Mosseri.
Users will now have the ability to view their Instagram feed with three options:
- Home Feed: This is the current setting that many users have, with ranked and personalized content
- Following: The restored chronological feed
- Favorites: Another chronological feed that features personalized content from up to 50 accounts
This new update revisits how the app used to display posts in chronological order, which has been requested by users since the moment it was taken away.
While this change appears to be an effort to support users’ demands, it also comes at a time when TikTok has become the reigning champion of social media.
In order to compete, Instagram and other social media platforms are introducing new features that keep the attention of users, while still supporting their core content strategy.
