Artificial intelligence has become the newest member of the workforce that is altering nearly every aspect of how tech companies operate.
While this concept is often paired with the fear of jobs being taken over, the adoption of AI will instead accelerate the need for critical soft skills.
According to a McKinsey study, AI could replace up to 30% of the global workforce by 2030, targeting jobs that are repetitive and can easily be automated. However, no matter how advanced such tools become, there will always be a need to fill in the gaps that they cannot replicate, like the human touch.
In fact, the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report stated that creativity and innovation would be the most sought-after work skills over the next three to five years.
Creativity is nearly impossible to recreate through automation. Because it requires non-linear thinking, trial and error and other complexities, it is humans that can open the door to true innovation in the workplace.
Although, yes, technology and AI will continue to be integrated into most workplaces in the coming years, these tools are nothing without the nuanced thinking that only humans can provide.
