Pennsylvania’s Governor Just Made Four-Year Degrees Less Relevant

Pennsylvania’s Governor Just Made Four-Year Degrees Less Relevant

One of the first moves of newly-elected Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made good on a campaign trail promise that could open a world of opportunity for professionals. 

After taking the oath of office on Tuesday, Gov. Shapiro signed his first executive order that eliminated the four-year degree requirement for state government positions, adding that this would open 65,000 jobs to residents.

Along with the executive order, applicants can now search and filter state government job openings based on specific requirements. 

Shapiro added that agencies should focus on experience and skills when recruiting new talent.

“In Pennsylvania, the people should decide what path is best for them, not have it decided by some arbitrary requirement or any arbitrary limitation,” said Shapiro.
