Thailand plans to increase the daily minimum wage to 400 baht ($11.76) next year, Labour Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn said on Friday.

“It will be a new year present,” he said.

The increase was postponed from October, but the wage committee including representatives from employers, labor and the government will meet again in December at the latest, Pipat said.

The increase in the minimum wage from the current range of 330 baht to 370 baht per day was part of the ruling Pheu Thai party’s campaign platform. The party has pledged to increase it further to 600 baht by 2027.
