WeWork India has just announced key leadership changes, naming Jitendra Mohandas Virwani as the new Non-Executive Chairman, while Karan Virwani steps into the role of Managing Director and CEO.
Embassy Group, which holds a 73% stake in WeWork India, continues to play a central role, with WeWork Global maintaining a 27% share. This follows WeWork Globalโs $100 million investment in WeWork India in June 2021.
As part of the changes, WeWork India also welcomed Mahua Acharya and Anupa Rajiv Sahney as Independent Directors. Acharya, with expertise in electric mobility and climate finance, most recently led Convergence Energy Services Ltd., while Sahney, a corporate advisor, serves on several boards, including the Harvard South Asia Institute.ย
Additionally, Adnan Ahmad, Senior Advisor to Yardi Systems, will join the board, replacing David Mayland from WeWork Inc.
Manoj Kumar Kohli also transitioned to Independent Director on September 27, 2024, further strengthening the boardโs governance.
WeWork India, a major player in the countryโs flexible office space market, has expanded to 61 locations since its launch in 2016, with a presence in major cities including Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi.
