Google has launched a Gemini AI agent designed to handle workplace tasks across Gmail, Drive, Docs and Calendar, intensifying competition with OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft for enterprise customers, according to LinkedIn News.
The tool can answer questions, complete knowledge work, create content and write and run code through a single prompt interface.
Gemini Can Coordinate Complex Tasks Across Work Apps
The agent is designed to retain context about users’ tools, data and work history, allowing it to personalize assistance over time. It can also delegate parts of complex tasks to specialized sub-agents and operate across devices and third-party applications.
Google said the system can select from multiple AI models to balance output quality with cost. Its cloud-based architecture also maintains shared context and memory across different access points.
Google Expands Its Fight For Enterprise AI Spending
The launch adds to competition among technology companies seeking to make AI a central part of everyday business operations. Google is positioning Gemini as a tool that can work across existing workplace applications while handling tasks that span research, content production and software development.
The agent is designed to operate within enterprise controls and connect with companies’ existing systems, giving businesses a way to use AI across workflows without relying on a separate tool for every task.
