On Thursday 11th May 2017, coworking spaces across New Zealand will open their doors to visitors as part of the Pacific nation’s first National Coworking Day.
A total of 30 coworking spaces are taking part, spanning the length and breadth of New Zealand from Whangarei in the far north to Dunedin on the South Island. All participating spaces will open for free, inviting visitors toย tour and try the workspace as part of a nationwide celebration of collaborative working.
At least 3ย coworking spaces will open their doors for the first time on National Coworking Day, includingย The Workshop in Auckland, Suburban2 in Jonsonville and Hive&Co in Whanganui.
“I came up with the idea of a National Coworking Day after attending the first Coworking Hui in October last year,” says Kevin Double of Double Farley, who is organising the event in association with The Coworking Hui and TechWeek.
“I wanted to showcase the increasing number of spaces available to New Zealanders, and generate interest in coworking in the various cities and regions,” he said, adding that coworking is a relatively new concept in New Zealand.
“It was also an ideal chance to align with TechWeek as members of the various coworking venues often feature as key players in NZ technology and innovation.”
Visitors will be welcomed for free throughout the day on 11th May 2017 from 9am to 5pm, without the needย to book or become a member. Some workspaces are also holdingย additional events during the day, in which visitors and existing members are encouraged to participate.
