Carlos Gonçalves, CEO of Lisbon-based Avila Spaces, presented his case study of flexible working models at the Future Offices Conference alongside companies such as SAP, Microsoft, Staples, General Electric and GoDaddy.
Avila Spaces, a market leader in virtual offices and shared workspaces, was the only European coworking company to be present at the Future Offices 2017 conference, held in August 2017 in Seattle, Washington.
This is the second edition of the event organized by the IQPC (International Quality & Productivity Center) and a place of excellence to discuss ideas around workspaces and future working models.
Carlos Gonçalves, CEO of Avila Spaces, presented his case study in the field of flexible working models and had the opportunity to share the stage with such companies as SAP, Microsoft, Staples, General Electric and GoDaddy. Just like Avila Spaces, these companies presented innovative projects in different areas: interiors architecture, efficient building management, and strategies for attracting and retaining talent through the workplace.
Founded in 2004, Avila is considered a market-leader in Portugal for flexible workspace. In 2010 the company created a worldwide remote management app for virtual and physical offices, myOffice, and recently opened a new concept of workspace in Portugal: the Business Lounge.
A great deal of the innovation presented by Avila Spaces at the Future Offices conference was developed by its Research and Development department (headed by Teresa Câmara Jacinto), which has placed the company at the forefront of Business Centres in Portugal.
“The paradigm of the workplace is changing. Avila’s strategy is to provide a more effective response to the needs of companies who, in the current economy, are looking for rational solutions with controlled costs but who also favour the productivity of their work teams.
“Having been called upon to share our vision at a conference of this magnitude, and the fact that we were the only European company to be present at Future Offices, indicates that we are committed to achieving this goal,” says Carlos Gonçalves, CEO of Avila Spaces.
Gonçalves announced Avila’s successful case in the panel: “Defining & Translating Workplace Success: Metrics, Employee Feedback and the Bottom Line”, where he had the opportunity to answer some questions about the new concepts of workspaces. The panel comprised representatives from SAP, Coterie Worklounge and Rifitini.
“At this event, in several discussions, it was interesting to note that the new generations of professionals are more and more fond of having the freedom to choose where and how to work. As a result, coworking and other flexible work models are experiencing growing demand in American and European markets. Compared to 2016 and globally, the number of users of coworking spaces increased 41% and it is now home to over one million people,” Gonçalves concluded.
