Hot news this week: WeWork is nearing 2M square-feet in San Francisco, coworking in Israel proliferates, and Orlando’s new coworking alliance

WeWork Adds 1,300 Desks In San Francisco

In an exclusive this week, Bizjournals reported that the coworking giant, WeWork, has added another big lease in San Francisco. The new lease marks WeWork’s 14th location in the California City and it will add 1,300 desks to its already immense portfolio. The company will take up about 76,000 square feet across 6 floors at 353 Sacramento Street: nearing the company’s footprint in the city to approximately 2 million square feet.

Coworking Proliferates In Israel

According to Globes, “Israel currently has over 400,000 square meters of space classified as shared workspace.” And although most of these spaces are located in the central region, new spaces are being opened in other areas, especially the north and the south of Israel. Furthermore, “competition in the market is already fierce. The two largest companies have 15% of the market (Regus and WeWork) with 5 locations each in Tel Aviv, and 65% of the players in it have only one location each.

ATLAS Coworking Partners With Special Olympics USA

Orlando Shared Workspace Operators Form Alliance

The Bungalower reported this week that “six local coworking spaces have announced a new collaborative initiative called the Orlando Coworking Alliance.” The founding members of the alliance include: Catalyst, COLAB, Hub 925, Orlando Game Space, ScribleSpace, and Starter Studios.
