Gothamist reported that over 175 small food businesses were displaced by Pilotworks’ unceremonious closing. According to the report members “found out about the abrupt closure in an email the company send around Saturday evening, over an hour after staff forced members to leave the Brooklyn facility.” The company’s email stated that Pilotworks was forced to cease operations effective immediately after failing to secure funds. The Real Deal reported this week that “Mark Lapidus, WeWork’s former head of global real estate and one of the company’s earliest employees, has left the company amid a leadership shakeup in the real estate department.” Lapidus had been with the company since 2012 and his involvement in the company decreased in the past few months according to sources.[/ezcol_3quarter_end]
