Latin America’s Coworking Market Is Building Momentum

Latin America is experiencing their own coworking boom, with operators pouring into various countries to provide the best flexible amenities for clients within the startup community and digital nomads.

Currently, seven Latin American countries have a WeWork office that offer extravagant views of historical monuments, as well as a game of table tennis.

Increasing rent costs have pushed those within the innovation economy to find solace in coworking spaces. Despite this, high-end sought after spaces, such as El Poblado in Medellin, that offer coworking spaces to accommodate rising costs show that coworking spaces are not one size fits all.

Coworking Resources projected that there will be over 20,000 coworking spaces in the world in a few years thanks to a spike in remote workers, digital nomads, and entrepreneurs who value flexible and mobile amenities.

“I think we’re going to see the number of coworking spaces across Latin America grow in the next couple of years to meet the market of independent freelancers and entrepreneurs who are looking for a space to create,” said Jonathan Kalan, cofounder of global travel community Unsettled.
