WeWork’s newest endeavor allows businesses to commission the company to design their spaces. Health insurance startup Oscar, for example, was one of the first to reach out to WeWork as a design firm after it outgrew its offices in Manhattan’s Puck Building. Now, the startup will move into a new SoHo office designed by WeWork.
WeWork’s designing projects aim to reach more potential clients for its coworking spaces, with the ability to renovate either single floors or entire buildings.
The new Oscar space has the WeWork touch with plenty of greenery, beer and coffee taps, and mixes in elements specifically for a company in the health care sector. It will also include a space for yoga and health classes.
WeWork uses its data collections across its 500 locations to design its offices, allowing it to get a better idea of how each of its spaces are utilized.
“I think startups generally want to grow into an enterprise, and enterprises want to feel like startups,” said Liz Burow, WeWork’s director of workplace strategy. “We can leverage what we know from both sides of the equation.”
