The future of coworking may become more about having access to various coworking spaces, rather than a single shared office like WeWork. Using the popularity of subscription-based models, Desana hopes to appeal to that prospect.
The U.K.-focused app offers freelancers and digital nomads the opportunity to work out of coworking spaces in any city. Although some operators already offer this option across their own brand, Desana gives members the option to choose from a wider variety of spaces.
This is particularly ideal when working out of a city that does not have an established coworking space.
“The idea for Desana came from our own experience of working from home — like many flexible workers my co-founder and I realized while working from our kitchen tables that we missed the camaraderie of an office space and in so doing we spotted the wider corporate opportunity,” said Michael Cockburn, co-founder of Desana. “In the last decade, huge technological advancements mean that a notable portion of the global population only require a laptop and WiFi to work, Desana gives these workers the flexibility to work from a coworking office space as and when they want to — no matter where they find themselves.”
Currently, there are 30 sites signed up with Desana as it works to grow across U.K. markets throughout Scotland and England.
