The coronavirus pandemic has caused a dramatic shift across all corners of society, whether it’s how we interact or how we work. With schools and businesses shutting down, as well as public transportation being limited, it appears that the transition to a digital world is upon us.
The millions of people that have just recently started working from home have proven how far the world has come in terms of technology and infrastructure. Without advancements in cloud technology, remote working tools, fast wifi and phone data, the swift transition to a remote workforce may not have been possible.
Once the pandemic has subsided, work culture is expected to permanently change as employers and employees recognize the benefits of having flexible and remote work options. This includes cutting overhead costs, increased productivity and a boost to morale.
Technologies such as cameras, drones and security systems are expected to become more evident not just in the workplace, but in society as well. This can help monitor foot traffic in certain areas and warn people if crowds are too dense.
Additionally, with fewer people commuting to work, there may be a decrease in demand for transportation. Even providers of mass transit such as trains may also experience reduced overcrowding, which can help with social distancing measures.
