Sandeep Mathrani, CEO of WeWork, revealed that the company is in talks with private schools to use their offices to hold classes in the fall.
He added that this was to help schools reduce their density and allow for in-person instruction.
“To allow them to get started, they can go into some of our WeWork locations, which sort of fit well as classrooms,” said Mathrani. “Even schools are going beyond just thinking about it in a structured way. They’re opening their minds of how to bring children back into schools.”
While the discussions have only been with private schools so far, Mathrani said they would be willing to open those talks with public schools.
He added that they are looking to the company’s experience in China to anticipate what its occupancy levels will be in the coming months.
