This week, Amazon will launch its interactive virtual event CareerDay in the U.S.
The online retail giant will allow participants to livestream advice from leaders, book career coaching sessions with recruiters, and absorb other career-centric content.
Amazon CareerDay is open to anyone, but the company is hoping this event will help fill-in over 40,000 open corporate and technology positions, as well as other hourly Amazon Operations network jobs.
This news follows a nationwide labor shortage that is hindering organizations’ ability to attract and retain new talent. Coinciding with this event, the company recently announced a commitment to covering all of its hourly workers’ college tuition fees, and textbooks.
Amazon may have a good point — recognizing what younger professionals desire out of their workplace will be key in long-term employment.
In addition to college assistance, younger workers also want the ability to improve upon their skills instead of staying in stagnant positions. By embracing continued learning, organizations have a great opportunity to retain these professionals.
