We are on the cusp of the next industrial revolution, but, unlike its 4 predecessors, the next revolution will center not just around the optimization of work, productivity, and profitability, but also around humanity.Â
However, there is still a lot that needs to be done to prepare society and the global economy for this revolution. Governments, companies, and individuals will all need to work together to ensure that the 21st century is ready for this revolution.
In this next revolution, talen–not capital–will be the driving force behind the success of companies. Below are some of the main challenges facing the next industrial revolution.
Knowledge workers will need to redefine the how, what, and why of work. Money is no longer the top priority for many knowledge workers, and they will need to work with HR leaders to communicate what their new priorities are.
Companies will need to become more flexible in terms of operations and talent management. Organizations will also need to leverage technology and, more importantly, provide enough reskilling opportunities for employees.
At the government level, cities and governments will need to define a roadmap for growing economic opportunity and equity for residents.
