Employers Using New Methods To Attract Talent Amidst Labor Shortage

Job openings are aplenty. However, employers are still struggling to attract top talent, leading them to offer more employee perks than ever before.

Instead of providing workers with basic perks like free lunches and coffee, employers are having to adjust their offerings to focus more on the wellbeing and work-life balance of their employees.

“It’s clear that people have been changed by the pandemic and have higher expectations of their employer to align with their values, enable work-life blend and positively contribute to our communities,” said Ruth Harper, chief communications and sustainability officer at ManpowerGroup.

Now is the time for professionals who are in career limbo to look into new opportunities. In fact, a report from Monster showed that 82% of U.S. employers have hiring plans for 2021.

However, the ManpowerGroup showed that 69% of employers are struggling to fill in roles due to the lack of candidate skills, which has led to 20% of employers reducing their skills requirements and 41% offering more training and upskilling opportunities.

Additionally, a report from ManpowerGroup revealed that the industries seeing the biggest challenge in hiring are manufacturing, finance, real estate, and business services.

On the other hand, the Monster survey showed that transportation, warehousing, technology, healthcare, professional services, and construction will see the largest job growth.

“This recovery is unlike any we have seen before with hiring intent picking up much faster than after the previous economic downturns,” said Jonas Prising, CEO of ManpowerGroup.
