The findings from this research indicates a lack of certainty and confidence from employers, which has left employees in a state of confusion about whether they will return to the office, work remotely, or adopt a combination of both.

According to the research, 36% of employees said they were more productive working remotely, 35% got more work done in the office, and 29% were most productive with a hybrid arrangement.

Additionally, 31% of employees said that they want to go back to the office full-time, but 35% said they’d prefer a full-time work-from-home setup moving forward.

“Confusion among employees about the future of their workplaces can have a devastating impact on productivity, and the ability for teams to do their best work,” said Ashwini Bakshi, Managing Director of Europe & Sub-Saharan Africa for PMI. “This is particularly important in today’s business environment where work is increasingly project-based and projects are how we get things done, make change and deliver better business outcomes.”
