Hidden overtime may seem innocent on the surface, but allowing work to seep into everyday life has detrimental effects on workers.

Although experts have pointed to a weakening economy, high inflation and layoffs as signs that the job market is drying up, the slight dip in unemployment finds a softer landing.

The data shows that 23% of hybrid workers in the U.S. “strongly agree” that they feel bonded to their company compared to 20% of overall employees.

Despite the Great Resignation loosening its grip, 55% of respondents said that they left their job in order to flesh out their skillset.

What workers need from their managers moving forward is more adaptability, authenticity, empathy and humanization, and less rigid leadership. 

The rise of the freelancer and gig economies means companies have to do more to entice this voluntary workforce to participate in their operations.

Analysis from Euromonitor International forecasts that the average income for those 65 and older will be 13% less than the global population.

Adopting flexible models means more than just giving women the opportunity to balance their home and work responsibilities — it can influence the gender pay gap.
