- UK freelancing association, IPSE, has selected Liverpool-based Avenue HQ as its Coworking Space Of The Year
- The accolade reflects significant growth in both choice and quality of flexible workspaces in regional locations across the UK
- Backed by a corporate sponsor, Avenue HQ provides a wide range of shared office and workshop space
Avenue HQ, a coworking space in Liverpool, has won the ‘National Coworking Space of the Year’ award by UK freelancing group, The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed (IPSE).
The 12-strong shortlist for the national award was announced in early June, and with just one location in London, the shortlist served to demonstrate the impressive choice and quality of flexible workspaces that are now present in regional towns and cities across the country.
Avenue HQ is based within a glass-fronted building overlooking Liverpool’s historic waterfront. The space was designed around the needs of the local freelancing community and offers plans ranging from low-cost ‘Flex’ memberships to private serviced office space.
Since launching in June 2017, Avenue HQ has been supported by Barclays Eagle Lab, which agreed to partially fund the space as part of a nationwide campaign to offer support and flexible space to growing businesses. At Avenue HQ, one of 17 Eagle Labs across the country, Barclays funds a makerspace to support rapid prototyping, 3D printers and on-site business advice, along with a range of workshops and events.
Within 12 months, the 22,000 sq ft space has become home to over 160 businesses and welcomed more than 12,000 people for events. Following recent expansion, Avenue HQ’s private offices are at full capacity and the brand is seeking further growth opportunities, with a new site opening soon in Leeds and a third location set to be announced soon.
Matthew Kennedy, CEO and Founder of Avenue HQ, said: “Freelancers and remote workers are so important to the UK economy.
“The nature of work is changing, and our aim is to provide a dynamic environment that increases productivity and innovation. Our culture is focused on providing the best possible facilities and service for members to ensure they can get the most out of their working life.
“Our team work hard to support and nurture freelancers and remote workers within the space and it’s fantastic to be recognised by IPSE.”
