Last month, SoftBank published a deck of its investment holdings, including WeWork, that appeared to create a fluffed up story of what is happening at the coworking company.
Here are a few ways SoftBank could have appropriately communicated this information.
First, it would be wise to create more context for the presentation as a whole. For example, the company used the word “hypothetical” over 48 times throughout the presentation.
Additionally, it is important to communicate the message in the title of your slide in as few words as possible. Another option is to use images to make your message more clear.
Highlight the positive news in your story that may take away from extra tension in the room.
Furthermore, avoid using buzzwords and say what you actually mean regardless of how difficult it may be. Also feel free to add as many footnotes as you please in order to touch on every possible detail.
