Meta’s move to update Instagram with the new feature threatens many “link-in-bio” companies like Linktree, according to Wired.   

Why it matters:     

There has been an entire business model created specifically for offering link-in-bio services to marketers, content creators, and individuals. Linktree, and lesser-known services such as Beacons, Shorby, Milkshake, and Campsite, among many others, were created to address link limits on Instagram and other social media platforms like TikTok.

The ability to add more links in bios has been a major feature requested over the years by both marketers and content creators, according to TechCrunch.   

LinkTree – which touts over 35 million registered users online – is now threatened by Instagram’s new feature.
