Deloitte Reveals New Office Space Designed with Future of Work Trends In Mind

What’s going on:

Deloitte has unveiled a new office in Edinburgh’s city center, specifically designed to cater to the evolving needs of the future of work. The 16,383 square-foot office was designed in response to a Deloitte people survey — which found that 86% of respondents ranked collaboration and interaction as their top priorities for their workspace.

The office, located in the 9 Haymarket Square building, has been designed with open and transparent floors to promote inclusivity and relationship-building, and is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including 360-degree cameras and adjustable-height desks. Deloitte states that the office also features “dancing walls” in collaboration spaces that serve as interactive screens for presentations and workshops.

The space has also been designed with sustainability and wellbeing in mind, featuring energy-efficient and fossil fuel-free systems, and materials that reduce harsh smells typically associated with new furniture and paint.

Why it matters:

This new office has been designed with workforce trends in mind. It demonstrates how major companies could respond to the changing preferences of their employees in the era of flexible work.

Deloitte’s decision to create a workspace centered around collaboration, inclusivity, and technology reflects trends that deviate from traditional office structures towards a more adaptable and modern work environment. By analyzing their research into workforce needs and designing a space that accommodates those needs, Deloitte is attempting to design an environment that could serve as a blueprint for other companies and organizations.

How it’ll impact the future:

As more companies embrace hybrid work arrangements, the need for office spaces that foster collaboration and adaptability has become increasingly important. As businesses continue to prioritize employee well-being and sustainability, the way offices are designed and utilized will evolve to reflect these values.
