Amazon is expanding its presence in Manhattan by leasing an additional 112,000 square feet at 5 Manhattan West, a 1.8-million-square-foot office building owned by Brookfield Properties.

This expansion is facilitated through a partnership with WeWork, which will operate the space on Amazon’s behalf, according to The Real Deal.

This arrangement offers flexibility for both Amazon and the landlord. Amazon can optimize its office space without committing to a long-term lease, while the landlord retains options if the occupancy doesn’t meet expectations.

This leasing model continues Amazon’s recent real estate strategy, as WeWork also leased 304,000 square feet at Vornado Realty Trust’s 330 West 34th Street for Amazon in November.
