According to new workplace analytics insights from Locatee, office occupancy has begun to recover from the pandemic, but this return to the office may be slow in some regions.
While office occupancy is growing incrementally in some areas of Europe, workers have become accustomed to working from home and may have found they prefer this arrangement.
This has led companies to revamp their office space to create more employee-centric design that focuses on collaboration and wellness.
Still, office usage varied greatly across Europe.
For instance, Switzerland saw most people continue to work from home during the winter of 2020 and spring of 2021. While the country saw an uptick in occupancy during September, it has since plateaued.
Additionally, Germany has seen a sharp increase in office usage. In fact, Germany has consistently seen high office attendance numbers that have continuously grown since September of this year.
France is currently seeing an even higher office occupancy than Germany, with 25% of workers back in the office. While this is still below the pre-pandemic levels of 60%, it shows that the country is adjusting to new norms more quickly.
