Young Remote Workers Feeling The Bulk Of Anxiety And Isolation

According to a new survey from cloud communications firm RingCentral, young workers are more likely to report feeling isolated and anxious when working remotely.

The research shows that 63% of 21 to 24-year-old respondents stated feeling isolated, compared to just 34% of 45 to 54-year-olds.

Even more, 66% of the younger employees said they are working with colleagues they have never met, driving further feelings of anxiety about returning to the office.

RingCentral’s findings also revealed variations between genders, with 45% of women reporting feelings of isolation compared to 34% of men. Additionally, 24% of women and 20% of men reported feeling less happy than they were pre-pandemic.

On the bright side, 60% of women and 48% of men said that the pandemic has caused them to be more empathetic.

However, 18% of respondents aged 21 to 34-year-olds stated that their relationship with their supervisor has deteriorated since the beginning of the pandemic.
