How To Prepare For A Job Search In 2022

Job searches are expected to grow tenfold this year, with Monster’s “Future of Work” report showing that 93% of employers have plans to hire in 2022.

Thanks to rising wages and increased job openings, LinkedIn career expert Andrew McCaskill says it’s an opportune time to seek a new position.

“There’s millions of open positions, and companies are considering all kinds of incentives to recruit folks – job seekers have a lot more ability to negotiate, and can really take advantage of this moment to get what they want from their jobs,” said McCaskill.

With this increased opportunity, McCaskill and Monster career expert Vicki Salemi have offered tips to make the search less stressful for those looking for a new job.

For starters, job seekers should apply as soon as they spot an interesting position as it can give them an edge above the competition.

“If you see a job that interests you, do not wait more than 24 hours to send in your application,” said Salemi.

Second, McCaskill said it is essential for job seekers to know what they are looking for in a new position.

“Be really clear about why you’re making a career change – is it because you’re unhappy at work? Or are you craving a change because the world is crazy right now?” said McCaskill.
