Meta is going on a law hiring spree, offering new positions and perks for product, privacy, and data protection lawyers.

The company will offer these workers numerous benefits, including remote working, bonuses, and increased salaries as the competition for talent within the law industry — and the workforce as a whole — ramps up.

Last year, Meta hired 10,000 employees, which is over one-sixth of its current 60,000 workforce. This coincides with the firm’s increased efforts to build out its metaverse, which promises to be the next iteration of the internet where people can socialize, work, and more.

“We really want people that are mission-driven, and really have a belief in what we’re trying to accomplish, which is bringing the metaverse to life,” said Jenn Wohlgemuth, a legal-team recruiting manager at Met.

Wohlgemuth added that the company is seeking attorneys from Big Law or in-house, regardless of if they are working within the tech industry.

According to work visa data analyzed by Business Insider, Meta’s packages for lawyers can consist of six-figures, as well as health and wellness benefits that include support for cancer diagnoses, fertility treatments, and more.

However, among the biggest in-demand perks has been the ability to work from home. In fact, some lawyers have said they would rather leave their firm than return to daily commutes.

“I’ve seen these companies decide, ‘We won’t necessarily match their salaries within the Big Law firms, but we will do what we can to make sure that that person’s work-life balance is more tolerable than it ever could have been within Big Law,” said Monique Burt Williams, CEO at legal recruitment company Cadence Counsel Group. “Those concessions are being made much more frequently, and in much more of an impactful way for the candidates.”
