Although in its infancy, companies have progressed in their ability to combine augmented and virtual reality to create immersive three-dimensional holograms.
For instance, Microsoft’s Holoportation development may be the most noteworthy examples of this technology. Using various cameras placed across multiple points of view, Holoportation can develop a fully 3D rendering of a person, then transfer it in real time for others to view.
Microsoft utilizes HoloLens in order to give people the ability to see and interact with these renderings in a virtual environment.
This technology is certainly a sci-fi lovers’ dream, but it can also mean huge advancements in the hybrid workplace.
Many companies currently rely on tools like Microsoft Teams or Zoom to bring employees together, but these platforms have their limitations.
When using Holoportation, workers can remain distributed, but work side-by-side and attend events together in real time. Even more, Holoportation can be used for training, brainstorming sessions, meetings, and other work-related gatherings that may require a more hands-on approach.
By adopting this type of technology, issues of isolation and decreased motivation among hybrid workers can be eliminated.
