What’s going on:    

Salesforce has resurrected its Einstein virtual assistant with generative AI from OpenAI — two years after pulling the plug on the voice assistant.  

The revitalized Einstein GPT is equipped with OpenAI’s large language models and Salesforce’s own databases to compose and edit emails to customers, digital ads, and computer code for developers.

OpenAI is launching ChatGPT app to be embedded in Slack, giving those using Salesforce’s communication platform access to the generative AI chatbot and its summarization and writing capabilities. 

Why it matters:  

Einstein GPT dramatically boosts Salesforce’s AI arsenal with LLMs, making it easier to craft custom content with natural language in a fraction of the time.

This AI can not only generate emails to customers and act as a real-time chatbot that knows past case notes, but it can also arrange meetings and create marketing materials to capture the attention of prospective customers.

Salesforce Ventures is investing in the next generation of AI startups with a $250 million Generative AI Fund, aiming to fund companies pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
