NetChoice (Funded By Meta) Launches Litigation Hub

What’s going on:

NetChoice, a tech industry organization supported by Meta, has launched a new Litigation Center, signaling a strategic change in its plans for facing the regulations that Congress has shifted to the courts.

This center will be the hub for tech-industry legal action and arguments, focusing on topics such as state social media laws and antitrust lawsuits. In addition, the Litigation Center will provide legal programs and analysis to bolster the technology industry’s stance, according to The Washington Post.

Why it matters:

“Internet free speech and free enterprise are under attack… from every corner of this country. The industry must have a unified voice,” Chris Marchese, NetChoice consultant, who will serve as the center’s new director, said.

NetChoice is taking measures to respond to a growing judicial presence in the tech industry, where federal legislation is lacking.

How it’ll impact the future:

This legal dispute is anticipated to be taken to the Supreme Court during the next term, starting in October, since district courts have made opposing decisions regarding its constitutionality. The impending ruling may set a precedent for future related cases.
