LinkedIn’s recent Workforce Confidence survey provides insightful data on the current state of the U.S. workforce and its preferences regarding hybrid and full-time in-person work environments.  

According to the data, 54% of U.S. employees work mostly onsite, 25% work remotely, and 18% are on a hybrid work schedule. The majority of remote workers in the survey, or 68%, stated that they would prefer to work remotely. Only 22% of them desire a hybrid schedule, and a mere 9% would rather work onsite.

The data further reveals that among hybrid employees, 60% are happy with their current setup, while 39% desire a more defined schedule — either mainly onsite or remote. 

Onsite workers, comprising the majority in the survey, show a similar trend with 61% preferring their current work arrangements. According to LinkedIn, this group often benefits from better professional development opportunities. However, about 37% of onsite workers stated that they would prefer greater flexibility — leaning towards a hybrid or remote schedule.

These statistics correlate with the rising employee preferences for greater flexibility. While the majority are content with their current work arrangements, a significant portion of workers still seek more flexible work arrangements. This desire for greater flexibility will be a driving force in shaping future work policies.
