Berlin is charting new territory in flexible workspace with the launch of the House of Games, a dedicated 15,000-square-metre coworking hub for the gaming and digital entertainment sector, slated to open in 2026, according to Coworking Europe.

Rather than simply expanding office space, the project is a deliberate intervention in shaping how cities cultivate creative economies, and may well serve as a prototype for future industry-specific urban infrastructure.

Positioned in the heart of the city, the House of Games will bring together a constellation of developers, esports firms, startups, tech providers, researchers, and freelancers. Ubisoft is confirmed as the anchor tenant, while over 25 other potential occupants have expressed interest, suggesting strong demand for sector-specific coworking environments that blend production, collaboration, and public engagement.

The facility will offer coworking spaces, private offices, multifunctional studios, event and exhibition zones, and a gaming museum. The hub is being designed as an engine for cross-disciplinary exchange — between business and culture, industry and academia — with the explicit goal of reinforcing Berlin’s status as Germany’s premier gaming capital.

The House of Games will be a workspace as well as a curated ecosystem, one that reflects how gaming has evolved into a complex intersection of technology, media, culture, and commerce.

For a city with more than 300 gaming-related companies and a workforce of around 2,600 in the field, this development represents a calculated leap forward.

The final location is set to be announced in June 2025, following an extensive evaluation of 80 possible sites. Once completed, the hub is expected to enhance Berlin’s international visibility in the industry while offering a scalable model for how cities can support sector-specific innovation at an architectural and institutional level.
