Mumbai Scores Ahead of London And Miami As IWG Ranks The Best Cities For Remote Work

Mumbai’s ranking comes as flexible work grows in India and more workers use Work From Anywhere policies to work while traveling.

Mumbai has become the only Indian city featured in IWG’s 2026 Work From Anywhere Index, earning a score of 77 and placing ahead of London and Miami.

The index evaluates cities based on factors including flexible workspace availability, broadband, transportation, accommodation, climate, food and culture. Mumbai performed well on transportation costs, flexible workspace availability, climate and accommodation, while scoring lower on broadband quality, local events and happiness, according to Malaysia Sun.

Mumbai’s Workspace Infrastructure Helps

Mumbai performed particularly well on transportation costs, coworking and flexible workspace availability, climate and accommodation. The city scored lower on broadband speed and quality, local events and its happiness index score. Bangkok took the top spot with a score of 106.5, followed by Tokyo at 96.5 and Barcelona at 95.5.

Mumbai Benefits From India’s Flex Market

Mumbai’s showing comes as India’s flexible workspace market continues to develop.

The index cited Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Trends in Flexible Office 2025 report, which gave India a flexible workspace maturity score of 100. That was ahead of the UK at 98, France at 97 and the U.S. at 81.

India also had 79.7 million square feet of flexible office stock across its eight largest cities in Q2 2025, with that figure expected to surpass 100 million square feet in 2026.
